As you have read in an earlier blog, I don't like my biological father and consider my step-dad to be my father. So, here's the story.
During the summer when I was 11, my mom had to travel to Philadelphia for work. My older brother and I were going to spend time with our biological father in Nashville. We had been there for about a week when one we were trying to find out what we wanted to eat. Our real dad was already on the phone ordering from a Chinese restaurant when he asked us what we wanted. Of course we had never been to a Chinese restaurant or had food from a Chinese restaurant, so we had no idea what they had there. Our real dad became mad and canceled the order and hung up the phone. He then called our mom and asked if he could bring us home early. She said yes and that Thursday we came back home. He said his goodbyes and left.
A few weeks later we had found out that he had either been fired or quit his job and he had tried to file bankruptcy. We lost contact with him. During that time, I felt so many emotions. First you're confused and upset. Then you begin to blame yourself. When I started to understand that it was his fault, I became angry.
A few years later, the government found him and my mom and him had to go to court. He spilled out this story that he had been living in his car and with his wife's relatives. He even said that he wanted to see us again. To explain his side of the story. But, the truth is he never wanted to be our father.
I love my step-dad more than anything in the world.
